Anezina

‘Anezina’ is a traditional Cretan house, carrying the culture and values of Crete since the end of the 18th century, that it was built. The building managed to survive through significant social, economic and cultural changes, showcasing an unbelievable adaptability and endurance in time.

The house was named after Anezina, the first woman who lived in it and the one who raised and nurtured the national hero, Ioannis Kouromichelakis. She was a woman with values and a vision. A woman who knew not only how to survive but also how to contribute to a better world.
Anezina is the most beautiful way to introduce this home to the world.

The “house of Crete” has always been the symbol of family bonds. It hosts memories, experiences and life lessons that shaped the strong and impactful personality of Ioannis Kouromichelakis. The Cretan History has left its imprint on the house of ‘Anezina’, making it a significant part of Cretan tradition and hospitality.

The history of the house

The traditional house “Anezina” was built around the end of 1700. The house survived through continuous changes, following the developments of history and the everchanging social and historical reality that shaped it. However, the special Cretan architectural style is reflected in the layout of the floor for over two centuries, remaining the reference point of the house. It is a house that points out both the nostalgia and the resilience of the place and the people.

amenities

A Cretan house always has what its guests need for a complete, relaxing and memorable hospitality. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, and oven. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two toilets. In the house there is a Smart TV, parking space for a car and furnished balconies. You will also find a living room with desk, internet and Wi-Fi printer connected to all guests’ computers, as well as a safe box and air conditioning throughout the place.
In the courtyard, there is fully equipped barbeque, while security cameras and closed-circuit CCTV guarantee your safety. Towels, sheets, bathroom scales, ironing equipment, hair dryer and cleaning equipment. The traditional furniture and the layout of the space are indicative of Cretan aesthetics and style. There are two queen beds and a sofa bed. Ideal to accommodate up to five guests.

The village

Nippos is a village with a rich tradition, while it counts a history of more than five centuries, in which the role of the area was decisive. Apart from the history of the village, Nippos is the best starting point for any kind of excursions in the nature, as it is located 15 minutes both from the sea and the mountain. Nippos is a semi-mountainous village and it is located in the center of everything. Traditional food and music are within walking distance, while the distance from the city of Chania is only half an hour.
